PAA Cal Ripken Baseball consists of three divisions:
(Age is determined by actual age on April 30th of the current year.)
Tug McGraw Division - 9/10 Year olds
Steve Carlton Division - 10/11 Year olds
Mike Schmidt Division - 11/12 Year olds
(Beginning in 2007 Schmidt Divsion games are be played on a 70' diamond with a pitching distance of 50'. Rule changes include leading off the base, balks and dropped third strikes.)
Mandatory player evaluations will be held in early March in order to appropriately place the players into the divisions and evenly select the teams. PAA reserves the right of final player placement.
SEASON STARTS – Early April.
Teams will play a 12 to14 game regular season. PLAYOFFS will immediately follow the regular season and will start in early June and end in MID June. Trophies are awarded for 1st and 2nd place finishers in each division.
Teams will be drafted in mid-March. Each Manager may select one assistant coach after which the balance of the players are selected in a blind draft. Players will be contacted around the third week of March.
GAMES: 1 or 2 games per week. Most games on Saturday. Games are played at the Lower Makefield Baseball Complex on Edgewood Rd. The Schmidt Division games will be played at Macclesfield Park on River Rd and at Afton Elementary on Quarry Rd. PAA approved umpires at all games.
UNIFORMS: Major and Minor League Uniforms are issued – shirt, pants, hat and socks. Players must provide their own bat and batting helmet.
PRACTICES: Typically one practice per week.
