10U TOURNAMENT

The PAA is hosting the 10U Cal Ripken District Tournament. The ceremonies will start at 5:30 on Wednesday; June 22nd with our team playing its first game on Thursday at 6PM. The event will take place at Stoddart 1 & 2. Good luck to Coach Mike Boucher's team and thanks for all the hard work.

Opening ceremony will be at 5:30pm with all teams being announced, our local Boy Scouts presenting colors and a ceremonial first pitch (still confirming) from a 42 year veteran of the LMT police department who just retired. So it's a nice community event and you are all certainly invited to attend.

Our first game will be Thursday night at 6pm on Stoddart 2 so if you are around I'm sure our boys would love some additional PAA support. We are also scheduled to play Friday night at 6pm.

Greg Caiola Memorial College Scholarship

Pennsbury Athletic Association is seeking applications for its annual Greg Caiola Memorial Scholarships awards. Awards will be presented to one baseball player and one softball player.

PAA Commissioner Jason Simon is pleased that the club supports the continuing education of student athletes in our community through the scholarship program. The selection committee intends to review applicants based upon their involvement in PAA and the community and how that personal development might help them in the future.

High school seniors, college, and trade school students who participate, or had participated, in either the baseball or softball programs of PAA within the past three years are encouraged to apply! Applications are available on the PAA website, which is www.paaball.com, or contact Frank Smith at 215-321-6663 to receive an application.

Applications must be postmarked by May 20, 2016 to be considered. Award recipients will be announced by early June and scholarship awards of $1,000 each will be presented at the regular meeting of the PAA Board in June.

PAA is an independent volunteer organization whose goals are to instill in the youth of our area ideals of sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and competitive spirit through active participation in baseball and softball activities. Its aim is to assist these youth in developing mentally, physically, and morally so they become better citizens of our community and country.

PAA Banner Contest

PAA is running a banner selling contest.  All teams are encouraged to participate.  The goal is to fill all the spaces on the 10 fields that have outfield fences.  This will bring in revenue to cover much needed capital improvements. The first thing to tackle is the need for batting cages that cost about $4K each.

We will reward the highest selling division based on average team sales. We will also reward the highest selling team.

Example:

Division 1 sells total of 14 banners and has 4 teams in division= avg. 3.5 wins contest

Division 2 sells total of 21 banners and has 7 teams in division= avg. 3

A team in division 2 sells 10 banners for the most of the league and wins team contest.

  • The banner costs $450 (includes production: PAA Must produce the banner so we can ensure adherence to LMT strict requirements)
  • is 3 feet x 8 feet
  • Is on the outfield fence of one of our 10 fields (field preference is first come first serve)
  • Stays on fence from placement (no sooner than April 1st) until October 31st.
  • 4-color process digital imaging so any design will look great
  • Preference is for artwork to be provided in the form of a high resolution PDF or our manufacturer can develop for a small fee.  Key visual elements should center around the logo/name and phone number

Division Prize:A free BBQ for all players and families held behind the snack bar at Stoddard Fields.  Age appropriate carnival games included

Team Prize:A $25 dollar gift card to Sports Authority for every player on team and invitation to BBQ for players and families.

Edgewood Fundraiser

PAA Families: One of the elements that makes our league unique is that we are a part of the community. Please take a moment to read about a fundraiser happening at Edgewood for Leukemia and Lymphoma. This terrible disease has impacted our league with the loss of Arty Peake over the past summer and the money raised will be in his honor. Please help if you can.

Jason Simon - PAA Commissioner

Collect Change – Save Lives

Hello LMT friends and families. Please join Edgewood Elementary School in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Series campaign. Your support will help fund the therapies and treatments that help save the lives of blood cancer patients today. By collecting donations, Edgewood students will help people touched by blood cancers. In the 1960s the survival rate for the most common form of childhood leukemia was 3%. Today it’s approximately 90% thanks to many research advances funded by LLS. With the help of programs like this one, LLS has invested more than $1 billion in research to advance therapies that save lives. That includes more than $5,000,000 from Eastern PA.

Edgewood Elementary has donated almost $100,000 over a decade of giving to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This year the money that Edgewood collects will be donated in honor of our friend, Mr. Arty Peake, whose legacy lives on in his 4 sons who all have attended Edgewood (the youngest son still attends). Arty's awesome memory permeates every corner of LMT, including our organization. Together we can help to make a difference and honor, not only Arty, but all families who have been impacted by blood cancers. Thank you for your generous contribution and kind thoughts! Please click on the link to donate directly to the Edgewood Elementary Leukemia & Lymphoma Society page.

7U Falcons

Let's give the boys of the 7U travel/developmental team a big high five !!! The program's first year team both competed intensely in every game and had fun along the way.The success of this new travel/developmental team has been attributed to the dedication of all the players, coaches, and families. The team finished their regular season with a record of 3-2-3. The team saw marked improvement for all the players, most notably the success of our kid pitching and the team averaging more than 8 runs per game. The boys seem to possess the characteristics needed to have a team grow and succeed together. Let's hope their positive experiences as a team continue.

Although the season has ended, the team has continued to practice together with hopes of competing in a summer tournament.

The 8U Heat team under Coach Frank Dragoni is looking forward to their taste of state competition the same week in Langhorne. This team of young players is primarily an all-star team of rising 8U players who have been identified through the in-house pro

8u Falcons!

Great job by the 8u Falcons!  The boys finished a very fun, competitive season in the Suburban Travel League with a 6-4 record and a bid to the playoffs!  Awesome job for their first season of travel play!

With the travel season completed, the District  and State Tournaments are heating up.  The boys will be opening up play in the District tournament this Friday against Valley Athletic Association, at the Valley Complex in Bensalem at 6:00.

Starting on July 10, PAA will be hosting the 8u State Championship Tournament at Stoddart!  The events open with a ceremony on Friday evening along with the skills competition, including a home run derby!  Games will start on Saturday and continue through Wednesday.  Our boys will be competing in this Tournament, so please come out to support the boys!

The 9U Falcons

The 9U Falcons just wrapped up the Philly Baseball Bash tournament last weekend with an 8-3 win over Levittown American. It was excellent preparation for the Ripken District 9U Tournament which will kick off this Friday at the Levittown American AA major field at 6:00pm.

The 9U Falcons feature outstanding pitching, scrappy defense and a small-ball offense that can drive opponents crazy. Our team has been practicing hard for six months and we are excited to compete against other excellent area teams for the right to represent our district in the state tournament in July.

Once we conclude District play, we will turn our attention to the North Wall Beach Bash IV tournament scheduled for July 17-19 in North Wall, NJ. This is a great tournament to conclude our season since our focus is baseball fun and some great family time at the beach

The 10U Heat team under coach John Evans, missing some key players due to injury and vacations, was still able to get it done and qualify for their State Tournament. "I was so proud, that despite being down to just ten players, we were able to hang tough

The 10A Travel Team completed the regular season with a run that saw them qualifying for the Suburban Playoffs and losing a tough game to Horsham 9-7. The team has been training hard and is prepared to start their district tournament at home at Stoddart t

Congrats to the 11U Falcons For a Second Place Finish in the Philly Bash Tournament! Great playing boys!

The 12U Heat team under Coach Bill Baldwin had exciting come-from-behind wins against Levittown American on its way to qualifying for the state event. "The girls put in lots of work throughout the year and especially after the in-house season concluded t

Our 12U Travel team qualified for states with a 12-8 win over Langhorne in the District Tournament, 2U team was a finalist in the District tournament last weekend and we qualified for states that will be held this weekend at the 21st Ward in Roxborough

Congrats to 9U in House Champs Led by Manager Greg Webber

The Sand Gnats, Managed by Joe DiPalma, win the Minors Division Championship!

The Marlins, managed by Bill Nally, Win the Majors Division!

NEW BATTING CAGES!

First we got new fields and then we got new sheds, we now need to build cages so our players can have a safe place to warm up their bats.

With about 800 kids playing ball this coming year, if each parent donates $25 each, we would be two thirds of the way to reaching our goal.

Each complex will have a cage centrally located so our players have access to a safe place to warm up.

Please donate now to help fund these batting cages!
